RICS 2014 National Grand Finalist Awards - Building Conservation
Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects, Radwinter, were shortlisted in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors East of England Community Benefit Awards 2014 for our work to Finchingfield Guildhall.
The renovation and conservation of the Grade I Listed Finchingfield Guildhall revitalised the building’s relationship with the village. The community, including local school children, were invited to tours of the construction works. Conservation and adaptation works undertaken by specialist conservation designers and craftsmen revealed medieval features. Traditional building materials/techniques were employed throughout. The community was involved in all decision-making. Two apprentices were employed, teaching young people traditional building skills.
