ABOUT US

Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects is a family Architectural & Interior Design Practice, established in 1985 by Kay and now run by her Daughter Sibyl. We are passionate about designing and building extensions that fit seamlessly onto adjoining historic and period buildings, and regularly undertake barn conversions both old and new.

We have the ability to create bespoke one-off new-build houses that are sympathetic to the surroundings and the environment. Our carefully selected tight-knit team are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and have real expertise in historic buildings or when creating bespoke new-builds.

We aim for a close working relationship with you to understand how you are using and would like to use your building in the future. We relish this process of discovery as well as developing the elements around how your unique build can be created, improved, altered or extended.

Our close relationships with the Local Authority and Listed Building/Conservation Officers helps us understand what they are likely to accept and approve.

We have an in-depth knowledge of historic buildings of all periods, understanding how they have evolved over the centuries and why they are important. This helps us find solutions around altering or extending the building without compromising on what makes it so significant. We have always worked with sustainable materials and incorporate true craftsmanship and innovative technologies into every project.

Working hand in hand with you, we aim to deliver outstanding projects completely tailored to your family and your lifestyle, while also ensuring they are beautifully additions to the countryside.

Taking your project from initial idea to a completed building is always a great adventure and we love working of all sorts of projects types both tiny and huge. We also have a network of traditional building contractors and specialist craftsmen capable of delivering results to a very high standard. Furthermore, we are able to recommend specialist local Historic Building Recorders, Archaeologists, Quantity Surveyors, Structural Engineers and Building Services Engineers whom we have worked extensively with for many years.
