Spains Hall Wedding Venue

Spains Hall is a Grade I listed Elizabethan estate house Circa 1570. The Ruggles-Brise family, who have lived at the house since the mid-18th century, wished to carefully restore the house, so its historic rooms could be used as a beautiful setting for Weddings and private function hire, and the rest of the house could be carefully upgraded to allow the family to move into the main house.

The renovation works involved the introduction of new public toilet facilities, with the Ladies designed into the old Linen Room, and the Gents in the cellar, where the old water well was glassed over. The Great Hall had a new oak floor with under-floor heating. The painted historic family crests were uncovered on the ceiling and carefully restored by Howell and Bellion. A secret doorway was revealed and reopened in the Withdrawing Room and historic bramble patterned wallpaper found behind a mirror in the Tapestry Room was recreated with specialist Alison McDermott. The rooms are available for hire.
