Standing proudly beside the River Granta, this fascinating Grade II listed property demonstrates how modern living standards can be achieved in a sensitive historic context.  The core of the house is a medieval aisled hall – a rarity in Cambridgeshire, and possibly dates from the 14^th Century.

The project involved comprehensive repairs to the timber frame, with lime plastering to the external walls and traditional clay peg tiles on the roof.  A sustainable future for the house has been assured with the addition of thermal insulation, a new heating system, and new bathrooms on the upper floors.  The coup de grace is a delightful oak framed extension which links the house with its grounds.  Grafted carefully into the Victorian garden wall, the extension provides tantalising glimpses of a new glasshouse in the walled garden beyond.
