DAC Design Awards 2017

Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects interior works to the Church of St Michaels and All Angels, Galleywood has won the top award of “Highly commended” in the Diocese Design awards. Working closely with the church community and Lodge and Sons Builders, we relocated and rebuilt the organ from the North Transept to the rear of the Nave. Also within the base of the tower in the nave we brought forward the existing oak screen and added matching doors, to create a chapel and meeting space at the rear of the church, with the rebuilt organ above on a new balcony. The North transept, then had new carved oak screens added to created two new independent social spaces. The carving on the screens depicts an oak tree of Galleywood.
