Essex Mill House
Essex is well known for its timber framed barns. We specialise it converting these large open structures into a comfortable family house or annex in a sensitive way that utilises the high openness of the mid-strey roofs and maintains the agricultural essence of the structure.
Barn conversions are notoriously difficult to get through planning now and it is our experience and understanding of historic timber frames and rural buildings that allows us to detail the adaptations in a way that is both suitable to this building type and is also aligned with the Council Conservation Department’s needs and policy.
Using quality materials such as solid English oak, glass, thatch, sheepswool, weather boarding and lime plasters; new elements can be introduced into these historic countryside buildings, without compromising their agricultural form.
