RICS 2012 East of England Building Conservation Award Winners
Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects, Radwinter, have won the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors East of England Building Conservation Award for their conservation of Spains Hall, Finchingfield, for Sir Tim and Lady Rosemary Ruggles-Brise and The Spains Hall Partnership.
Spains Hall is a beautiful Grade I Listed Tudor House, set in attractive park land near Finchingfield, and has been lived in by the Ruggles-Brise family for more than 250 years.
Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects and a team of specialists have revealed the incredible history of this fascinating house. The judges were impressed by the attention to detail of the design and the building works.
Interesting features abound as you walk around, such as the secret door, the Tudor well in the floor and the restored flamboyant Victorian wallpapers, so that each room tells a unique story of the building’s history.
This project has allowed Spains Hall to be opened to the public for the first time as a stunning setting for weddings and other events.
