This Grade II Listed 15th century house is a fine example of a typical Essex, timber framed Hall House. It retains its central double height Hall which was originally used for dining, with an open hearth in the centre and smoke blackened crown post timber roof above. Adjacent to this is the cross passage with the medieval arched doorways leading into the Buttery and Pantry rooms. On the other side of the Hall is the high status cross wing where the owner lived over two floors.

This large house required a new Kitchen and Breakfast room on the Ground Floor, with a Master Bedroom, En-Suite and Dressing Room on the First Floor. The owner was keen to build an extension that would embrace traditional building methods and materials.

The design of the extension required specialist knowledge of historic construction, detailing and specification. It then demanded an expert Building Contractor, who had the necessary skilled joiners, carpenters, blacksmiths and lime plasterers, to build this challenging extension and also repair the existing medieval house with an informed and experienced hand.
